PS2 Still Selling A Decade Later

The Playstation 2 is seen as one of the most successful consoles of all time and its success is still being measured to this day. This year at CES, Sony stated that its Playstation hardware has sold over 6.5 million units, a totaled amount that consists of Sony’s entire Playstation hardware lineup. The Playstation 3 sold roughly 3.9 million units while the PSP sold around 1.6 million units. Both the Playstation Vita and the Playstation 2 sold 500,000 units respectively.

Much of the Playstation 2′s continued success can be attributed to “robust sales especially in emerging counties and regions such as Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and South America.”
