Yesterday at CES 2013, NVIDIA announced a new mobile gaming system, called “Project Shield.” It is said to be running their next generation mobile graphics chip, the Tegra 4. It will  run Android and be cross-platform compatible with PCs.

This will be achieved through the streaming of game content with an NVIDIA card, over WiFi, and access to your Steam Library as well. The device itself will come with a console-style controller and  720p display. And you can display what you are viewing on the smaller screen to your TV. And you can further your library by downloading games from the Google Play Store.

Other “portable PC” gaming systems have been announced but were never released. Do you think Project Shield has more of a shot? Let us know what you think in the comments.
