Today, Capcom revealed one of their upcoming games to be Dragon’s Dogma, an open-world action game that, at least upon first glance, may have you thinking of another one of their flagship franchises, Monster Hunter. Although specific details are scarce, Capcom has released two videos, including the launch trailer and a boss fight, which you can find below, along with a handful of screens.
What we do know is that you will play with three AI teammates as you set out to track down and defeat a mysterious dragon.
Apparently, the game will offer unobtrusive depth, as Capcom explains:
“[E]very decision has an effect on gameplay in an intuitive way that does not require micromanagement. The weight of your weapon, the material of your armor – even the length of your legs – plays a role in how you fight your battles, but does not interrupt the flow of the action.”
More than that hasn’t been released, although the game will feature an open world to explore, and will be available sometime in 2012 for PS3 and 360.
Personally, my interest is definitely peaked, and I look forward to learning more. Vivid Gamer will keep you up-to-date as more information is made available.
