The story is about an organization known as the Federation who are invading America to take over the country with their superior technology. You play as Logan aka Section 31 Agent Rorke who leads his team consisting of Mason (aka Captain Price), Hudson (aka Soap) and the other members of Bravo Team through missions in order to fight off Federation forces from taking over America.

Ghosts introduces several new game types to the franchise. “Cranked” is a new mode that gives players an adrenaline rush after getting a kill. Players will explode if they do not get a kill within the time limit. “Search & Rescue” is similar to Search & Destroy but has a twist where players can revive their teammates after getting their dog tags but their team cannot re-spawn until their teammate has been saved or killed. “Blitz” mode is similar to capture-the-flag but involves transporting a battery to a specific point on the map within limited time.
