Those looking to pick up a PlayStation Vita on launch day may want to shift their pre-orders (or celebrate the one you already have). Online retailer Amazon revealed a brand new Vita bundle this morning, and itโ€™s an enticing package. The โ€œPlayStation Vita 3G/Wi-Fi Launch Bundleโ€ is now available for pre-order and runs for $299.99. ย The package comes with an 8 GB memory card, AT&T DataSession Pass, and an undisclosed free PlayStation Network game that becomes available after 30 days of using the DataSession Pass.

Letโ€™s take a look at the value of this package. A standard 3G/Wi-Fi Vita retails for $299.99, so youโ€™re already getting more bang for your buck in some fashion. The 8 GB memory card retails for $29.99 on its own, and the inclusion of an AT&T DataSession Pass and PSN game brings the total bonus value up to $55 according to Sony. The DataSession Pass is good for one month of 250 MB service, which costs $14.99/month otherwise. According to Amazon, the free PSN game will only become available after 30 days of 3G activation under the DataSession Pass, effectively cutting off the bonus game unless you redeem the pass. However, according to the PlayStation Blog, neither will become available until regular 3G activation.

What does this mean for you? If youโ€™ve already pre-ordered the First Edition Bundle, youโ€™re set โ€“ the additional bonuses of a DataSession Pass and PSN game are included. If you want a 3G Vita at launch but donโ€™t want to drop $350 on the First Edition Bundle, this is your best option. However, if youโ€™ve had your sights set on a Wi-Fi model since announcement, this bundle might do little to change your mind. Letโ€™s say you want to pick up Vita, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and either an 8 GB or 16 GB card at launch. A Wi-Fi Vita, Uncharted, and an 8 GB card comes to $329.99. Substitute the 3G launch bundle, which contains an 8 GB card, and youโ€™re up to $349.99. For only ten dollars more, you could get the Wi-Fi Vita, Uncharted, and twice as much memory (16 GB). The bottom line is, if you have zero interest in 3G, the newly-announced launch bundle does nothing for you.

Sound off in the comments with your feelings on Vita and these bundles. Are you going to pick one up at launch?
