Independent developer Red Wasp Design announced today that, after a year of intensive development, their iOS title Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land has been released for iOS devices. This turn-based strategy RPG is inspired by the works of cult horror writer H.P. Lovecraft and was developed in cooperation by Chaosium, the publishers responsible for Call of Cthulhu, the cult horror role-playing game. Tomas Rawlings, the game’s designer, commented:

We’ve put a vast amount of our time, energy and ideas into this game over the last year. It’s been a long journey for us because we want to get it right. We’re not a huge studio, but I hope that fellow gamers will appreciate what we’ve achieved with The Wasted Land.

Set in the trenches of World War One, the title features nine 3D levels. Players control a team of up to six investigators tasked with uncovering a deadly inhuman conspiracy that underlies the clash of empires. Machine guns and mustard gas will prove to the least of the team’s worries as they dive deeper into no man’s land. In addition to the physical harm they can endure, players will have to improve their skills and equipment to survive the psychological horrors that aim to destroy them.

Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land is an universal iOS app which means that the same game will work on all iOS devices. The title is priced at $2.99 for the full universal app.
