In this post, I’ll tell you about five of this year’s best upcoming games—plus a few words on some other titles that deserve honorable mentions.
Darksider 3
You’re going to play as the main character, Fury. Fury is an angel who has been sent down to Earth by the Charred Council, a high council of angels who oversee all of Creation. Unfortunately for her and the world at large, there are demons who have taken control over Earth.
The game is set in an open world and you can travel wherever you want within its borders. The world is post-apocalyptic and filled with different types of environments like deserts and forests—you name it! You can even explore underground caverns if you so desire!

Overview: Shadow of the Colossus is an action-adventure game published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game was developed by Bluepoint Games and Team Ico, and it was released on February 6, 2018 for PlayStation 4. A remake of the 2005 video game Shadow of the Colossus, it features updated graphics and audio but retains the same gameplay as its predecessor. Players take control of a young man named Wander as he travels across a forbidden land on horseback to defeat sixteen towering colossi in order to revive a fallen maiden named Mono. The gameplay centers around using your wits and brute force to defeat each giant monster; you won’t find any bombs or other weapons here (with one exception).
The story is told through sparse dialog between characters along with brilliant cinematics that put you right inside their world. In addition to its beautiful visuals, Shadow of the Colussus’ soundtrack stands out amongst other games due to its wide range of instruments used throughout — from flutes to strings — making it easy for players like me with little musical experience recognize when they’re playing different types across multiple themes instead just hearing generic orchestral scores all day long.”
The Last of Us 2
The Last of Us 2 is one of the most anticipated games for 2018. This action-adventure survival horror video game is developed by Naughty Dog, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and will be released on 28 June 2018.
The Last of Us 2 takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where a pandemic has turned humans into mindless creatures called “The Infected”. The story revolves around Ellie who travels to Seattle with an old friend named Dina to find out about her mother’s death.
The gameplay for The Last of Us 2 will be similar to its predecessor, but there are quite a few changes that we can expect from the game such as improved artificial intelligence (AI), new weapons and combat mechanics among others.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the latest entry in Ubisoft’s flagship franchise, and it’s set to release on October 5th. The game will be available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
You play as either Alexios or Kassandra who are both members of a Spartan bloodline. However they don’t know this until they are approached by an ominous Oracle who tells them that they must find out their true destiny before time runs out and disaster strikes this ancient world. According to the official website: “Ancient Greece is at your fingertips as a vast open-world RPG filled with unexpected storytelling, unique combat encounters and more than 30 hours of epic story missions.” The gameplay mechanics have been enhanced with new features such as dialogue choices which affect how people interact with you throughout the story and how you progress through it.
Dragon Age 4
The next game in the Dragon Age series will be called Dragon Age 4, and it will be released sometime in 2019. The game is being developed by BioWare, makers of Mass Effect and other well-known titles.
Dragon Age 4 will be a single player experience set in the same world as its predecessors: Ferelden (the setting for Dragon Age: Origins), Orlais (Dragon Age II’s setting), and Tevinter Imperium (Dragon Age: Inquisition). It will feature an all new hero character that players can control as they explore this new location.
