Earlier this month, we reviewed Ace Ferrara and the Dino Menace for mobile devices. The developer behind this quirky title has recently parted ways with the publisher, BulkyPix, in order to re-release it. Overall, this next step for Phillip Seifried is a big one and, despite one small hiccup that will be mentioned below, looks to be very promising.
The small issue is that with the re-release of Ace Ferrara, all old app store links are invalid and existing players will need to re-purchase the app. It’s quite a bummer to see this issue. However, Mr. Seifried is addressing it by having the title available for free. It is the first since the game’s release that it has been offered at no cost. This offer will only last until January 2, 2015 when it will return to its full price.
And what re-release is complete without some shiny new updates? A few of the bigger updates include:
- Customized UI layouts that better accommodate the screen sizes of the iPhone 6 and 6+
- Different missile types for different ships; take out enemies with a barrage of swarm rockets or stun them with powerful EMPs
- New hard-to-the-max difficulty that comes with four bonus missions
For those who haven’t picked it up, now is the best time to give Ace Ferrara and the Dino Menace a shot. And if you played the previous version, the new harder difficulty and bonus missions are definitely a good reason to check it out again. You can visit the App Store to download it free until January 2, 2015. Be sure to check out our review if you’re on the fence.
