Introduction
Christmas is a time for goodwill to all men and women, but that doesn’t mean you have to spend the day actually talking to your family. After all, we’re all stressed and exhausted from everything that’s happened in 2020. Instead, why not get everyone together for some friendly competition using one of these awesome games? They’re easy enough for beginners to pick up, and fun enough for the whole family. Oh, and did I mention they’re also great excuses to put off doing that mountain of dishes?
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the latest game in Nintendo’s long running series of life simulators. It was originally scheduled to be released on March 20, 2020 but Nintendo decided to delay it so they could optimize the game. Instead, it will now be released on July 2nd 2020.
This might not seem like a lot of time but given that Animal Crossing games have been traditionally held back by their release date or even cancelled altogether (Animal Crossing 64 and Animal Forest), this is fantastic news!
The story focuses on a new character called Sable who moves into town with her family and begins working as a realtor for Tom Nook’s store. You must help them build up their property by planting trees and crops while also making friends with the other residents in town that include KK Slider, Reese & Cyrus from Animal Crossing: Wild World/City Folk/New Leaf respectively as well as some new faces including Digby from Animal Crossing Wii U / 3DS / Switch – amiibo Festival; Isabelle from Super Smash Bros Ultimate; Mabel Pines from Gravity Falls etc…
As well as helping out your neighbours you can also go fishing using your rod or net whilst exploring acres upon acres of land filled with caves containing interesting items such as fossils which will unlock new dinosaurs once you collect enough parts! There are many other activities such as collecting bugs hidden around town – bees sting when they get close enough so watch out!
Minecraft
Minecraft is a sandbox game where you can build and explore on your own or with friends. You can play on a server, which is also fun for kids. There are many different Minecraft servers available for people of all ages, so you’re sure to find one that suits the needs of your family or group of friends.
You’ll have the freedom to choose what type of gameplay you want from the server; some offer only building games where players collaborate to create structures, while others offer more competitive PVP (Player vs Player) options.
Splatoon 2
Splatoon 2 is a third person shooter, where you play as a kid who can transform into a squid that can swim through ink. The aim of the game is to cover as much of the map with your team’s colour.
This is a family friendly game, and it’s great for kids to get started on multiplayer gaming. There are different levels that have fun obstacles and challenges for you to work together with other players to overcome. It’s also fun if your kids want to play with their friends, which will help develop social skills too!
Splatoon 2 is available for Nintendo Switch so it’s perfect for Christmas Day when you’re all sitting around playing games together (or just one person if there isn’t enough space!).
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a racing game that can be enjoyed with family and friends. In this game, you use various items to try and knock your opponents off the course while they do the same thing to you. You can also play against the computer or in a variety of different modes, such as Grand Prix and Battle Mode. You can play this game on the Nintendo Switch by using either Joy-Con controllers or The Pro Controller (which comes bundled with some versions of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe).
Have fun playing these games this Christmas!
- Make sure you have a good internet connection.
- Make sure you have a decent controller. The game might not work well on your touchscreen, so make sure to get yourself a controller if you haven’t already got one!
- Make sure there is enough space on your device to download the game and store it while playing it.
- Make sure that you have enough time available to play this game with your family on Christmas Day!
Conclusion
Christmas is a great time to bring the whole family together. If you want to play games that everyone can enjoy, then these are some of the best options. Playing them will be fun for kids and parents alike, so why not pick one or two up as a gift this Christmas?
