Top 10 Best Video Games of All Time

Introduction

It’s not easy to come up with a list of the 10 best video games of all time. Everyone’s got different tastes, and there are tons of genres to choose from. But I’ve made my own list based on the video games that have been popular over the years and had an effect on gaming as a whole. Here are my picks:

Doom: ID Software made history by basically inventing deathmatch and the first-person shooter genre.

Doom: ID Software made history by basically inventing deathmatch and the first-person shooter genre. Released in 1993, Doom was the first game to feature 3D graphics and multiplayer modes, as well as a first-person perspective. The game’s popularity led to its sequels having a lasting effect on video gaming culture, including Quake and Wolfenstein 3D (which were both also developed by id Software).

Doom is considered one of the most influential titles ever released in terms of videogames. Not only did it become an instant hit with players all over the world, but it also had an impact on other areas such as film editing software development; many people used Doom maps as templates for their own creations!

Tetris: It’s such a simple game that you might not think there could be anything more to it than lining up blocks, but the game has been a cultural phenomenon for more than 20 years.

Tetris: It’s such a simple game that you might not think there could be anything more to it than lining up blocks, but the game has been a cultural phenomenon for more than 20 years.

Invented in 1984 by Alexey Pajitnov, Tetris helped make video games become mainstream. The concept is simple: players are presented with falling blocks in various shapes and must arrange them on a horizontal playing field so they form complete lines without overlapping or leaving gaps. As each row of blocks clears from the top of the playing field, another row falls into place from above—and if you don’t clear enough rows before they reach the bottom, it’s game over!

The original version was called “The Soviet Mind Game” due to its origins — it was designed for an Electronika 60 computer produced by Soviet electronics manufacturer Elektronorgtechnica (LINK TO ARTICLE WITH DETAILS). But Pajitnov didn’t stop there; he ported his creation to other systems as well, including PC platforms and popular handhelds like GameBoy and Game Gear. Today there are countless versions available across all sorts of platforms!

Pac Man: Kids all over the world grew up with this character, who was so popular in his time he had his own breakfast cereal.

If you’re reading this, you may be surprised to learn that Pac-Man has been around since 1980! This game was one of the most popular games for consoles, and it is still played today. The character of Pac-Man was so popular that he had his own breakfast cereal! Many kids grew up with him as their favorite video game character.

Pac Man was the first video game to have a character that you can control and interact with, through gaming mechanics like eating dots and avoiding ghosts (or “inhabitants” in this case). It also introduced a new concept: being able to play against someone else’s character on your screen—a feature which would become standard later on as technology progressed and allowed more developers to create multiplayer experiences.

Civilization IV: This is a turn-based strategy game that gets people addicted and keeps them coming back for more.

Civilization IV: This is a turn-based strategy video game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. It is the fourth installment of the Civilization series, which was originally created by Sid Meier.

Civilization IV takes players through history as they lead their nation from ancient times to modern age. The player starts out with one settler and has to work hard on building up his/her empire by creating cities, improving military strength, researching advances in science and technology, finding new landmasses to settle on or trade routes with other civilizations etc…

Super Mario Bros.: This classic is still thrilling after all these years. It’s iconic in almost every way that a video game can be iconic.

Grand Theft Auto III: Grand Theft Auto III is perhaps the greatest leap forward since Ocarina of Time, a year before it — even though it’s not technically an adventure game.

Grand Theft Auto III is perhaps the greatest leap forward since Ocarina of Time, a year before it — even though it’s not technically an adventure game. Rockstar’s crime drama shifted from 2D to 3D and introduced a more cinematic approach to storytelling, as well as a non-linear structure that let you play through missions in whichever order you liked. Like Ocarina of Time, however, it also featured an overhauled combat system that made first-person shooting more satisfying than ever before.

Its greatest achievement was arguably its customizable protagonist: player choice wasn’t just limited to his gender (male or female), but also whether he was rich or poor, had good or bad manners, and so on. This made GTA III feel like your own personal sandbox — one which allowed you free reign over everything from car theft to drug dealing to killing random pedestrians with no repercussions whatsoever.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time: This game practically invented 3D action adventures and was hailed as one of the best video games ever when it was released in 1998.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released in 1998, and it’s considered one of the best video games ever made. It’s a leap forward in 3D action adventure games because it has such a rich storyline and characters, but also allows you to explore freely and make your own decisions.

The game allows you to play as either Link or Princess Zelda, each with their own unique abilities. You’ll meet many memorable characters along the way that will help you on your quest—or hinder your progress if they’re evil villains!
