Real Money Transactions May Replace Microsoft Points

In an interesting turn of events, it appears that maybe Microsoft is considering getting rid of their payment system, Microsoft Points. For a number of years, gamers on Xbox Live have had to deal with buying set amounts of Microsoft Points, often being left with leftover amounts of Points that can’t really be spent on anything. The use of those points have also moved on towards the Games for Windows Live and Zune services.

In a report by Inside Moblie Apps, it seems Microsoft may be phasing out Microsoft Points in favor of real money transactions, like the PSN has been doing since day one. This is strictly a rumor at the moment, so until Microsoft comes out and says otherwise, don’t get your hopes up.
