Top 10 Best Board Games for Adults

Introduction

Monopoly and Scrabble are great board games for kids, but did you know there are plenty of adult-oriented board games that offer as much fun? Check out our list of the top 10 best board games for adults.

The Settlers of Catan

The Settlers of Catan is a game about settling an island. You’re trying to get the most resources, and the best way to do that is by building roads and settlements around your opponents’ pieces, blocking them out and gaining access to their stuff. You also have to trade with other players so that you can get what you need without giving away too much in return. There are a lot of rules, but they’re not complicated once you play a few times.

If you like strategy games (think chess or checkers), this is one of my personal favorites because there’s something really satisfying about turning over your piece on an opponent’s road or being able to block someone out from getting another resource they need just because they didn’t build well enough beforehand (or at all). It’s fun for people who love competition but might not be into multiplayer online games where there’s no interaction between players (like Words With Friends).

The Settlers of Catan is easy enough for anyone over 10 years old who has played at least one other board game before; it teaches kids about how trades work in real life through trading cards with friends/family instead of buying things outright like Monopoly does!

Monopoly Deal Card Game

Monopoly Deal Card Game is a card game based on the Monopoly board game. It’s easy to learn, can be played by 2-6 players, and is suitable for ages 8 and up.

Each player has their own set of cards (called property cards) that show properties from around the Monopoly board. The players are trying to buy as many properties as possible before they run out of money or are forced to pass one of their cards onto another player because they don’t have enough cash to pay for it themselves. If you’re lucky enough to land on someone else’s property, you can choose whether you want them to pay rent or give you money instead!

The winner is whoever has the most expensive hand at the end of each round (in other words: whoever has bought all their properties).

Ticket to Ride

Ticket to Ride is a board game based on the popular train-riding game of the same name. The goal is to build train routes across North America, and it’s perfect for those who love trains and want to build their own railroad empire. It’s recommended for ages 8 and up, but it can be played by adults as well.

The game takes roughly 30 minutes to play, so it’s great if you’re short on time but still want something fun and engaging to do with your friends or family members when you have some free time together! This is one of my favorite games—I’ve been playing it since I was a kid (and now I get to teach my own kids how)!

Pandemic

Pandemic is a board game about saving the world from a deadly virus. It’s cooperative, so you are all working together to solve the crisis. The game is for 2-4 players, and it’s recommended for ages 10 and up.

This game is great for learning about epidemiology (the study of infectious diseases). If you have ever watched a movie or TV show where there’s an outbreak of some disease, you know how scary it can be when that disease spreads quickly through populations and causes chaos. Well, Pandemic does just that: it puts you in control of trying to save humanity from four different types of viruses before they get out of hand!

Carcassonne

The winner is the player who has scored the most points, which are earned by completing features (such as roads and cloisters) before they’re completed by other players. In this game, you use your meeples to claim land tiles, but if you surround an opponent’s meeple with your own pieces, then you capture it! It’s a fun way for everyone to get involved in the action.

Dixit

Dixit is a card game for 3-6 players, that’s a great option for adults and children alike. It is cooperative in nature, making it a great game to play with family or friends.

Dixit is a storytelling experience unlike anything else out there on the market today. The goal of the game is to tell stories about your cards through images and words, but you can only do so by laying down one card at a time from your hand and then letting your friends guess what it means.

Settlers of Catan

Settlers of Catan is a game that requires you to develop your civilizations around a fictional island. Each round, players will roll dice to determine which resources they’ll be collecting. You can build roads, settlements and cities by spending the resources you earn each turn.

There are multiple ways to win this game: either by being the first person to reach 10 victory points; or having more points than any other player at the end of 10 rounds (which usually takes two hours).

The age recommendation is 8+ and it’s rated E10+ because there is some violence involved with some cards that come up during gameplay such as pirates or barbarians invading your civilization!

It’s $35 on Amazon right now but if you want something cheaper there’s also Settlers Card Game which has similar rules but has less pieces so only costs $20!

Pandemic Legacy – Season 1

Pandemic Legacy is a cooperative game where you play as a team to keep the world from falling apart. It’s one of the best board games for adults because it’s not only fun, but also educational. If you’re looking for games that will help your kids with their schoolwork (or even if you just want to get smarter yourself), Pandemic Legacy is an excellent choice!

  • You can play this game by yourself or with friends and family members.
  • It’s easy to learn how to play this game and there are lots of different strategies that can be used depending on the situation at hand!
  • The artwork on this box is absolutely stunning; I love how colorful everything looks!

Exploding Kittens

Exploding Kittens is a card game where you draw cards and try to avoid drawing an exploding kitten. Exploding kittens comes with a starter pack, which includes the game board, rules and dividers. Each player is given a secret hand of cards which they can use to help defend themselves against the kittens that are drawn during play of the game.

The game is easy to learn and has a lot of strategy involved. It’s great for all ages, making it perfect for families or couples who want something fun to do together on date night!

7 Wonders Duel

7 Wonders Duel is the perfect game for two players. It’s a card game, but it’s not like any other card game you’ve ever played before. Instead of building an entire deck from scratch and trying to make your opponent lose, in this game you’ll be competing against each other to build up your civilization by acquiring resources, constructing buildings, and developing technologies.

This strategy board game is easy to learn (the instructions include a helpful quick start guide), has lots of replayability due to unique strategies that can emerge throughout gameplay, and can be enjoyed by adults or kids alike!

Board games can be fun for adults too!

Board games can be a great way to spend time with people in your life. They’re an excellent way to have fun and get to know each other better. Playing board games as an adult can provide a lot of benefits that don’t come from other types of entertainment, like watching TV or playing video games. It’s also a good opportunity for socialization, which is important in maintaining healthy relationships with friends and family members.

People who play with others benefit from the opportunity for conversation, especially those who enjoy role-playing games where players act out certain roles. Talking about what happened during game-play allows them to share stories about how they reacted when faced with difficult situations or challenges that arose during gameplay; this helps them feel connected emotionally rather than simply being “game buddies.” Playing together also means there’s someone else around who can help figure out what’s going on if one person gets stuck!

Board games are especially good at bringing people together because they require active participation by everyone involved: no one needs their phone or computer handy while playing (except maybe during lunch breaks). You don’t need any special equipment either — just gather some friends around your table and start playing!

Conclusion

Board games are not only for children, but for adults as well. We hope that this blog has given you some ideas about what board games might be great for your next party or family gathering. Even if you don’t have kids, there’s no reason not to bring out the old Monopoly set every once in a while!
