Were you one of the parents who bought your kids a copy of the recent title Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure for Christmas? If so, you likely knew that in order to fully access the game, you would need to purchase the additional figurines that are sold separately. One thing that might not have been accounted for is how popular said figurines have become.

Game retail stores nationwide have reported that new shipments fly off the shelf even before they can be stocked. Parents are becoming frazzled when they visit a store in hopes to purchase the figurine(s) that their child has been begging for since viewing the in-game video for said character. John Coyne, Activision VP of Marketing, had this comment to make:

“We are doing our best to keep up with the consumer demand for Skylanders and to keep product on the shelves. Skylanders was one of the most popular gifts this holiday season and demand for toys has continued to rise week after week without any signs of slowing down. We’re shipping Skylanders toys out as soon as they come off the production lines and will get them to stores as quickly as we can.”

The good news is that previous limited characters will see a boost in availability and a new $20 adventure pack will be released later this month. Also the final wave will be available this spring. You can find out more about this via the official Skylanders availability FAQ.

While it may be best to wait for the popularity to die down, you can still check online for the figurines you are missing in your collection. The down side to this is how much one could go for. With Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure being as popular as it is, price gauging is going to be rampant.
