AVGN 2

Introduction

The Nerd will return in AVGN 2: ASSimilation, the highly anticipated sequel to the first Angry Video Game Nerd movie. This time, the plot of the movie is based on a real-life incident that occurred when James Rolfe was making his first film. According to legend, he received a mysterious package that contained several Atari games. However, these games were different from other Atari cartridges—they featured shorter boards and an unusual design element on the front of each cartridge. Upon investigating these cartridges further, Rolfe discovered that they were bootlegs of existing games—but bootlegs unlike any he’d ever seen before! Not only did these copies contain game code with subtle errors; there were also signs that whoever made them had accidentally copied over their own creative work onto them as well! The labels for these game cartridges depicted a pair of disembodied eyes floating in space—eyes which appeared to be staring directly at viewers!

Plot synopsis

The game is set in the year 2023 and takes place in the fictional town of Nerdropolis. The Nerd’s quest to find the missing AVGN game forces him to travel through time, meeting Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde along the way. You’ll explore many different worlds including: a haunted house, a planet made entirely out of toilets (and other bathroom-themed objects), an abandoned amusement park with dinosaurs that were never really extinct, a cave filled with monsters from Greek mythology, and so much more!

The plot of AVGN 2.

If you’ve been following the AVGN series for years, you know that the Nerd’s most powerful tools are his NES and Super Nintendo consoles. In the first film, he had to choose between his two favorite games: Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest and Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. The choice was difficult for him because he couldn’t play both at once on one system like we can today with game systems from multiple generations (though even as I write this I’m starting to realize that this may not have been true in 1989). In AVGN 2, he will be forced to choose between another pair of games: Mega Man 3 and Mega Man 4.

Now which one should he pick?

Conclusion

The plot synopsis on IMDb reads: “After being recruited by a group of unruly FBI agents, a mild-mannered banker is forced to go on the run with his family from a horde of speedboat-racing vampires. The film was written by Tom Lennon and Ben Garant, who also directed the film, making it their feature directorial debut.” This would be the first time Rolfe has played an angry video game nerd since the first AVGN movie in 2004.
