Sega has officially confirmed that Angry Birds’ Red is joining Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble as a playable character, available now on the Nintendo eShop for $4.99.

  1. Red will be collecting red feathers across each stage, replacing the traditional bananas.
  2. The gold banana will be a glowing feather to find.
  3. The game is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, unavailable on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC via Steam.

The game’s popularity has been growing, with games from the series downloaded over five billion times since 2009. The Angry Birds brand has also expanded beyond gaming, with licensed products, animation, and a thriving cinematic franchise.

โ€œโ€˜The Angry Birds brand has demonstrated remarkable versatility, evolving from a global mobile gaming phenomenon to licensed products, animation, and a thriving cinematic franchise,โ€™โ€ said Rovio Entertainment CEO Alex Pelletier-Normand. โ€œIt has been a deeply collaborative effort to create a film that will resonate with the millions who interact with our catalog of games and products every day.โ€

The third Angry Birds movie is scheduled to be released in January 2027 by Paramount Pictures, featuring the voice talents of Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom, and Danny McBride.

Red’s inclusion in Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble comes as no surprise, given the recent acquisition of Rovio Entertainment by Sega. The acquisition, announced in August 2023, marked a significant milestone in the history of the Angry Birds franchise.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble has received positive reviews from critics and players alike, with a diverse roster of characters that includes Pac-Man, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Crazy Taxi’s Axel, Hatsune Miku, and Godzilla.
