Rockstar Games has released new screenshots and case information regarding the upcoming title, L.A. Noire. Playing the role of Cole Phelps, players will start as a patrol officer, walking the beat with your partner Ralph Dunn. Cole must put time in patrolling the streets before he is ready for major cases.
All of the cases included in L.A. Noire are based on actual cases that took place in 1947 Los Angeles.
The case, “Armed & Dangerous,” will occur as you are cruising around and a call comes over the radio. Shots have been fired at the Westlake Savings & Loan during an attempted robbery. Players will then be engaged in a shootout in the street.
A case like “Upon Reflection” will have you helping to track down a murder weapon. Successfully tracking down the weapon will impress Floyd Rose and Rusty Galloway, the detectives working the case.
A couple of weeks ago, Rockstar also took the time to answer some questions regarding the game. Here are a few details you might not know.
- There will be no multi-player component to L.A. Noire. Rockstar cites the style of gameplay as the reason and said,”Bolting on generic multiplayer on top of that would not make much sense, or be a good use of our time or development budget!”
- Car chase scenes, as well as foot pursuits, will be a part of the game. Also included are fights and shootouts.
- As already mentioned, all of the cases are based on actual crimes that took place in the 1940s. Developers however, have taken a few liberties to make them more dramatic.
L.A. Noire lands in stores May 17, 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
