Today via the PlayStation Blog, Guerrilla Games announced that Killzone: Mercenary, one of the most anticipated Vita titles, will be releasing later this year on September 17th. Yes that’s a long ways away, but they did also release a new gameplay trailer with some stunning footage. Check it out below:
Mercenary puts you in the shoes of a mercenary named Arran Danner, and the story picks up right where the first Killzone left off. You’ll also play through various events that occurred during the trilogy. Mercenaries will have nine single player missions that are each “nearly an hour in length.” During the game you will earn cash for everything you do, this is in multiplayer and single player. The cash can be used to buy gear and weapons. Your cash will also carry over from single player to multiplayer, and vice versa. Kind of reminds me of Bulletstorm, but lets home it’s a little better than that game.
The trailer shows off some impressive graphics and seems to utilize the Vita’s power as good or better than any game I’ve seen on the system. Guerrilla Games has said they used the Killzone 3 engine when creating this game, and so far it looks like it. September is a long ways away, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear more about Killzone: Mercenary.
