You’ll need:

1) Find three halved rulers, two rubber band balls and some tape.

You need to find three halved rulers, two rubber band balls and some tape.

2) Tape two of the halved rulers into a cross formation. Tape it very well, as you are going to be strumming on this later, and it needs to hold.

Once you have your two halved rulers taped together, it’s time to tape them into a cross formation.

You can do this with masking tape and a lot of patience, or if you have some of that black duct tape lying around, use that instead. The key is to make sure the guitar holds together well; you don’t want it coming apart as soon as you strum it like some cheap imitation instrument made by china!

3) Tape the other halved ruler onto the middle of the cross formation. Again, use lots of tape so it holds.

4) Tape the rubber band balls on the ends of the top ruler (the one taped onto the middle ruler). These are your frets. Your new guitar string will span between these two frets.

5) Tie a long piece of string or yarn between your two frets and cut it so that both ends are even with each other. Make sure you leave slack in your string or else it will be impossible to play!

Conclusion

Congratulations, you now have your very own guitar! It’s not pretty, but it’s cheap, and it works.
