A statement from THQ Inc. Wednesday indicates Homefront sold well on day one, selling 375,00 copies in North America. The game is scheduled to release in Europe and Asia throughout the week.
THQ has placed a large investment into Homefront, already stating that it needs to sell at least 2 million copies to break even. When lower-than-anticipated review scores started coming in, THQ shares fell almost 25%, falling from $6 per share to $4.75. Brian Farrell, THQ President and CEO, said THQ remains excited about its day-one sales, and claimed to already be fulfilling reorders from multiple retailers. Amazon notably dropped the price of Homefront to $41 Tuesday, but it has now returned to $55.96.
The staying power of Homefront will rely on what gamers think of its multiplayer. Homefront is out now for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
