If you already bought Dragon Age II (or were planning on buying it in the near future), Bioware has some good news. Any copy of the game purchased from any retailer (in disc or online form) by Aprili 30, 2011 is eligible for a free, downloadable PC version of Mass Effect 2. This offer is good even if you purchased a PS3 or 360 version of DAII.
To claim your free code, first go to http://social.bioware.com/me2offer.php and enter your Online Code included with your game. This will give you a unique code you can use to get a free downloadable PC copy of Mass Effect 2. The good news about this deal is even if you purchased a used copy of DAII, as long as you sprung for the $10 online code, you can still qualify for this offer. Once you have your code, you’ll need to download EA’s download manager software and redeem the code, then download your game.
EA’s official offer page details their reasons behind the generous gift, as they say:
Thanks to gamers like you, Dragon Age II is off to a great start – breaking the 1 million mark in less than two weeks and faster than Dragon Age: Origins. We appreciate your support. As a special thank you for helping with the game’s early success, BioWare would like to present you with a download code for 2010′s Game of the Year, Mass Effect 2 on PC. As always, we sincerely appreciate your support and passion as we remain focused on delivering quality interactive experiences now and in the future. Look for more exciting things coming from Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Star Wars: The Old Republic in the future, including our recent launch of Mass Effect 2 Arrival DLC.
You do need to make sure that you’re logged into the same EA account in which you activated your copy of DAII in order to get your ME2 code, although it isn’t clear whether you need to be logged into that same account to actually claim and download the game. I believe you will get Cerberus content with your copy of ME2 as long as you claim it with your same EA account as the one used to get the code (and for DAII), although it isn’t clear if someone else can use the code (for example, if you already have a copy of Mass Effect 2 on your PC). If anyone knows if you can share your code with a friend, let us know in the comments.
